English Premier League Betting Preview, Saturday 1 May

We take a look at the 4 English Premier League matches taking place on Saturday and suggest a bet in each game.

CRYSTAL PALACE v MANCHESTER CITY

Palace are currently 13th on the table, but on a run that has seen them take only 1 point from the last 9 they have played for.  Last time out that they lost 2-1 away at Leicester and both teams have found the back of the net in Crystal Palace’s last three Premier League games.

City are 10 points clear at the top of the table with only 5 matches left and they also took a 2-1 victory over PSG in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final in midweek.

City were too strong for Palace at home earlier in the season winning this fixture 4-0 and they also won at Palace 2-0 last season.

Crystal Palace 33/4

Draw 17/4

Manchester City 7/20

Suggested Bet:  Total goals aggregated 2-3 goals at 1/1

City will probably be too strong for Palace, but I am not expecting a massive win as they start to manage their resources and this bet would have arrived in City’s last 4 EPL matches.

BRIGHTON v LEEDS

Brighton are currently 17th on the table, just outside the relegation zone although they have a nice cushion of 7 points over Fulham with just five games to go.  Their recent form hasn’t been great with just 2 points from the last 12 they have played for and they went down 1-0 away at Sheffield United last time out.   Under 2.5 goal backers have collected in Brighton’s last three matches which have only seen one goal scored in total.

Leeds are ninth on the table and are unbeaten in their last six matches. Their last game was a goalless draw at home to Manchester United and they also drew at home to Liverpool and beat Manchester City on the road so all things considered are in some pretty decent form.

Brighton 5/4

Draw 12/5

Leeds 23/10

Suggested Bet:  Leeds win at 23/10

I am quite happy to be getting anything above 2/1 on a Leeds win against a Brighton side that is really struggling.

CHELSEA v FULHAM

Chelsea are coming off a 1-1 away draw at Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals in midweek, although on the basis of good results, they will feel that they should have done better having dominated the first half.

Looking at their League position they sit 4th on the table and have only lost one of their last 10 matches.  They beat West Ham 1-0 away last time out but their last home game was a disappointing goalless draw with Brighton.

Fulham look virtual certainties for relegation as they are seven points behind Brighton with only another 15 points up for grabs. They haven’t won in their last five and a recent 1-1 draw away at Arsenal stopped a run of four successive defeats.

Chelsea 5/10

Draw 67/20

Fulham 23/4

Suggested Bet:  Correct score, Chelsea 2- 0 at 5/1

I am a bit wary of this game as Chelsea, like Manchester City, are very stretched at the moment and I can see a workmanlike victory for the home team.

EVERTON v ASTON VILLA

Everton are currently 8th on the log and a recent victory away at Arsenal broke a run of three successive drawn matches and five games without a victory.   Their home form has been a bit disappointing this season with just 5 wins and 4 draws in 16 matches and they only sit 15th on a log consisting of purely home matches.

Aston Villa are 11th on the table, 7 points behind Everton and they are on something of a wobbly run, having only taken only 1 point from the last 9 they have played for and that was a 2-2 home draw against West Brom last time out.

Goals have been flowing in recent Villa matches with over 2.5 goal backers collecting in their last 4 and both teams have found the back of the net in all 4 of those games.

Everton 1/1

Draw 53/20

Aston Villa 27/10

Suggested Bet:  Over 2.5 goals at 17/20

Everton’s last home game had 4 goals in it and as mentioned above Villa games have been seeing goals at both ends.
