English Premier League Betting Preview, Monday 12 April

There are 2 English Premier League matches taking place on Monday and we suggest a bet in each of them.

WEST BROM v SOUTHAMPTON

West Brom are firmly in the regulation zone, second from bottom of the table, but they are coming off a stunning 5-2 away win over Chelsea.  That match broke a run of 7 successive West Brom games which had 2 goals or less scored in them.

West Brom have only won twice in 15 attempts at home this season and they have only won 1 of their last 5 home games.

Southampton are 14th on the log and they look safe for another season of English Premier League football.  They beat Burnley 3-1 at home in a thriller last time out and prior to that went down 2-1 at home to Brighton.

Their last away game was a 5-2 hammering at Manchester City and their last 3 matches have seen a total of 15 goals scored.  Southampton have won 4 out of 15 away matches this season.

These sides met at Southampton earlier in the season with Southampton winning 2-0.

West Brom 51/20

Draw 23/10

Southampton 12/10

Suggested Bet:  Over 2.5 goals at 1/1

This goes against the recent trend of West Brom games when their last 4 matches have delivered profits for under 2.5 goal backers, but I feel West Brom have reached the point this season when they have to throw caution to the wind and if you look at Southampton’s recent games there is certainly chances of goals on either end.

BRIGHTON v EVERTON

Brighton are 16th on the table, 6 points clear of the relegation zone and with 2 games in hand over Fulham in 18th place.  They know though that they still need a few points to guarantee their safety and they will be looking to bounce back to winning ways having won 2 in a row before losing 2-1 away at Manchester United last time out.

Their last home game was a 3-0 win over Newcastle and that was only their 2nd win in 15 home matches.

Everton are 8th on the table, but have only taken 1 point from the last 9 they have played for.  Last time out they drew 1-1 at home to Crystal Palace and their last away game was a 2-0 defeat at Chelsea.  Overall they have a strong away record with 9 wins and 2 draws in their 14 matches.

Looking at the goal stats there is nothing firm to go on with Brighton’s last 3 home games having 3 goals or more in them while Everton’s last 3 away games have had 2 goals or less in them.

Brighton 13/10

Draw 9/4

Everton 47/20

Suggested Bet:  Over 2.5 goals at 23/20

I think this price is based on the fact that Everton away games have been low scoring of late, but then that is counteracted by Brighton’s home games which have seen the goals flow.

This match finished 3-2 to Brighton last season and I am happy to go overs at the price.
